About Dual Language Immersion Programs

Dual Language Immersion Programs are academic programs that develop two languages at the same time. The languages for the pilot program at Hobbs Elementary School will be English and Spanish. Students will also gain an understanding of other cultures in the DLI Pilot program.

This pilot program is a unique opportunity for students to engage in another language while learning academic content.

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Dear Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten and to Hobbs Elementary! We are so excited that you will be joining us. This upcoming year will be an exciting journey. Your child will be learning so many new things as well as growing in so many ways.

The teachers at Hobbs are exceptional educators and dedicated to ensuring the success of each and every student. Our school mission it to "Connect and Elevate for Success"! We do this by building strong relationships, identifying students' academic and social needs, and working hard to ensure those needs are met. We have a robust system of interventions and enrichments that allow us to work together to support all children.

You will find Hobbs to be a supportive community. A large part of Hobbs' success is attributed to our active and engaged parents. Our PTO also contributes a great deal to our community, and I encourage you to join. There are several ways to be involved from volunteering in the building, helping arrange special programs, running bookfairs, or fundraising.

Hobbs has an exciting opportunity this year! We will be piloting a Dual Language Immersion Kindergarten program. In addition to one class of traditional Kindergarten, we will have 2 classrooms that will team to provide instruction in English for half of the day and instruction in Spanish for half of the day. If you are interested in knowing more, please plan to attend our information night on April 19th at 6pm. We will host the meeting here at Hobbs in the Kindergarten room.

As you continue your journey, please feel free to reach out at any time. We are here to ensure a smooth transition for everyone! I can't wait to meet you all!

Warmly,

Rhonda Lobatos

Principal
